Just one page of my sketches for today! I want to go with an iconic / simple line approach, so I think I'm on my way? Progress seems to be going well, I hope I keep this up! *crosses fingers*

Here are screenshots of my chapter openings (is that the right word?) and how a spread would generally look like (in terms of text). I'm planning on including illustrations as well, but we'll get to that soon! Yay! Progress going well!

Stores are closed today. Should've known!

Luckily... a 24hr Shoppers nearby was open! I couldn't find a good image of the spreads from GQ. My dad didn't have a copy at home and told me to check out the store. So I did. They didn't have GQ.

They had Esquire.

Wow, it's pretty nice! I felt so weird looking at all these men magazines, but ah well! The thing I noticed about Esquire was that it just screamed "MAN". Yknow what I mean? Like it just looks like a man did it. I don't know... I guess I'm weird. But I want my book to have that same feel, something sophisticated and masculine. I'm borderline tomboy now, aren't I?

The plan:
- finish manuscript tonight!
- plan out chapter openings!
- finalize typefaces!

By the end of the week:
- book done?

...I'm rather insane I think.

Wow, completely forgot about doing this! Some updates:

A Title!
I've decided to call my book, Dada a week or so ago =) One of the first words that - hopefully - a baby will say! I sketched a potential cover for it. I'm thinking of debossing it, but still unsure. I plan to vectorize my sketch and make it more abstract.



Endpapers!
Visited the Paper Place on Tuesday, found some really pretty paper for my endpapers. Mike Tjioe walked in about 10min after me, random!

Endpapers: Part 2
I realized the next day that I didn't need pretty paper because my original intent for the endpapers was hand-lettering of different reactions guys would have to finding out they've gotten someone (regardless of the relationship) pregnant. As a joke they're all negative comments =P

So...
I sketched some stuff for my endpapers!



I've yet to start InDesign-ing though, which really worries me! *pout*

I've resorted to all-nighters at both campuses to get stuff done so I can actually start designing! Ack! So much to do! =(

oh boy!

After today's class I'm rather embarrassed. I don't think I want my Experimental Binding exercise back now!

My attempt at doing a hardcover seems...
quite the amateur now.
